Mortimer on Intervention, Mallat on women as vanguard of nonviolence
Beirut, 8 June 2014- Edward Mortimer and Chibli Mallat weighed in on the world debate over Syria. In an oped published in the Nahar, Edward Mortimer summed up the difficulties of military intervention by reference to two central texts of the doctrine. Mallat argued in an article published in the Daily Star, that the hope for the Middle East revolution to regain some of its nonviolence spirit vested mostly in women as the vanguard of the revolution. Both contributions are developed within a reflection of RN on ways to break the impasse in Syria. Mallat also weighed in television and radio interviews in Paris on the STL and presidential deadlocks in Lebanon.
