Lebanon traversed another dangerous year in 2012. With a war raging in neighbouring Syria, the Lebanese Government sought to implement a policy of dissociation (al-na'ibil-nafs) to spare Lebanon from being dragged into the deadly conflict. The government's official policy was unable to completely prevent the Syrian crisis from spilling over into Lebanon.
