As the consequences become increasingly grave following the humiliation of Beirut and the Mountain from outlaw Lebanese who directed their weapons against the peaceful people of Lebanon, the meetings at Doha may reach a deadlock because of Hizbullah's refusal to lay down their arms. Following a firm position held over the past three years against Nabih Berri's coercive closure of Parliament, Mallat insisted in the enclosed oped on the need to consider Parliament as the exclusive place for institutional dialogue in a country that respects democratic principles. He also called the Lebanese to get prepared for a 14 March-style showing at the airport to ensure the security of those returning from Doha, and to underline the right of all Lebanese to peace of mind and security against kidnapping and assassination.
